tell your story episode 29

Tell Your Story, Crafting your About Me Page – Episode #29

Tell your story – Episode #29

Being real and telling your story on your about me page is so important. It is a vital part of your site where you're introducing yourself to all your readers. It not only puts a face behind your brand, it makes it more personable. People are more likely to trust someone if they get to know about them.

So how do you craft out a good about me page.

1. keep it real, talk about your failures and accomplishments.

2. leave an impact, don't be dry…be yourself.

3. talk about family, your hobbies, your vision. This will let people know what your all about.

4. have some pictures up there. Being visual is key to having people connect with you.

5. leave contact information so people can get a hold of you. The last thing you want to do is just hide behind a computer and not engage with people. If you leave information for people to contact you that is a sign of trust.

6. Have the understanding that you’re not going to always gel with each and every person. If your fake people will eventually see right through you. If someone doesn't like you for some reason than it's all good, you're bound to have a critic here and there. unfortunately there are some haters out there, kill em' with kindness.

tell your story

In closing, I really think that a lot of people miss the mark on this because they lack self confidence. The last thing you want to do is be like someone else. Be an original, be honest, just be yourself.

marketing the practical way plugin episode 28

Top Plugins for WordPress I Use – Episode #28

Top Plugins for WordPress I Use – Episode #28

This episode is dedicated to my top plugins I use on almost every WordPress site I have.

When I first started online I loved plugins! I can actually say I was addicted to them. After years of going through so many I have my teir 1 plugins. These are by far my favorites and they don't kill my website speed horribly.

Take a listen and give me your thoughts on what you think.

top plugins for wordpress

  • Yoast – I have used a few different SEO plugins, and Yoast is by far my favorite. It has a very user-friendly set up and it is kept up-to-date like every plugin should be. Get Yoast Here
  • Pretty Link Pro – Pretty Link Pro is a game changer when it comes to cloaking your links. It is extremely versatile and allows you to do so much. You can also use Pretty Link Lite if you want to. Get Prettylink Pro or lite here.
  • Add Meta Tags – This is a newer plugin added to my arsenal. It adds basic meta tags and also Opengraph, Schema.org Microdata, Twitter Cards and Dublin Core metadata to optimize your web site for better SEO. I love how it has the admin feature where you can easily see the layout of your post. Get the Add Meta Tags plugin here.
  • All In One WP Security – Ever since I got all my sites hacked by some wonderful lads I have implemented this plugin. There is actually no reason why you should not use this plugin because it is absolutely awesome and helps strengthen your websites security. Get the All in One WP Security Plugin Here
  • TinyMCE Spellcheck – Simple, light and easy to use plugin that Adds a contextual spell, style, and grammar checker. Get the TinyMCE Spellcheck Plugin Here.

mind map your thoughts

Mind map your Thoughts – Episode #26

Mind map your Thoughts – Episode #26

One of the best ways you can keep coming up with fresh content is to create a mind map.

So you may ask, what is a mind map?

mind map is a diagram used to visually organise information. A mind map is often created around a single concept, drawn as an image in the center of a blank landscape page, to which associated representations of ideas such as images, words and parts of words are added. Major ideas are connected directly to the central concept, and other ideas branch out from those.

Mind maps can be drawn by hand, either as “rough notes” during a lecture, meeting or planning session, for example, or as higher quality pictures when more time is available.

There are a few tools I talk about in this episode that are available for free!

Below is an example of a mind map. You can click here to get a full tutorial.

Enjoy!
